Fraternity Chapter of the Year
Founded on August 8, 1839 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Beta Theta Pi exists as one of the oldest and most revered social fraternities. With over one hundred chapters throughout the United States and Canada, Beta Theta Pi recruits those who share in the ideals and principles set forth by our eight founders and upheld by our brothers today. The Zeta Chi chapter of Beta Theta Pi here at the University of Connecticut was founded on February 21, 2004 and currently stands 42 brothers strong.


FOUNDERS’ PARAGRAPH
At nine o'clock on the evening of the eighth day of the eighth month of the year 1839, eight earnest young men, all students at Miami University, held the first meeting of Beta Theta Pi in the Hall of the Union Literacy Society, an upper room in the old college building (known as "Old Main".) The eight founders in the order in which their names appear in the minutes were:
